Have you applied for dozens or even hundreds of jobs online and heard nothing?  Or, the ultimate annoyance - have you gotten a decline email with no explanation?  Do you wonder what you're doing wrong, but struggle to figure out if it's your application, resume, or something else?  Let's dive in and uncover the problem areas in your job search. Then we can identify what will work better for you.  Let's try to get you into that 3-5%!

Common Questions

  • How do I figure out who is hiring for the jobs I am interested in?

  • How many jobs should I apply for?

  • Do I need to change my resume for every job I apply for?

  • Do I need a cover letter?

  • Should I check in with the hiring manager or recruiter?

  • What if I don't meet all of the job requirements, should I still apply?

  • How do I stand out from the rest of the applicants before I even have a chance to meet someone?

Unfortunately, the answers really depend on the level, role, company, and circumstances, so there is no simple, one-size-fits-all answer for everyone, and many of these things could be affecting your success! I'd love to discuss all of these areas for your particular situation.

More Than Half of Jobs Are Never Even Posted!

How do you tap into this "hidden" job market we often hear about?  The biggest answer is networking and having the right connections, Referrals and internal promotions are other sources of hires that make up this "hidden market" so again, it is about who you know and sometimes, getting a role at a company where you want to be, then working your way into the job you want.

Online Social Media and Networking Sites: Friend or Foe?

Most employers (or their Applicant Tracking Systems) look at candidates' online profiles at some point, including Facebook, Instagram, even Tiktok.  It's important to ensure your public content reflects only the details about your life that you wouldn't mind your potential employer seeing.

Having a professional presence on sites like LinkedIn can also be a great way to network, learn, stay in touch, receive and give recommendations. But it can be hard to know what to write on LinkedIn when you're in between jobs.
